Aegis-Clear

The world's first permanent anti-fog and anti-frost coating.

Today's anti-fogs are a soap film. Ours is part of the surface: covalently bonded, it never washes or wears off.

Half-coated lens, 20 minutes at −20 °C and 30% RH. The coated side stays clear.

400+ min

fog- and frost-free at −25 °C, 30% RH. 130× bare aluminum.

500

wash / wipe cycles and still fog-free (EN 168 §16).

4H

pencil hardness. Abrasion resistance comparable to aluminum.

92%

optical transmittance (ASTM D1003), clearer than every anti-fog we tested.

Why it lasts

100% anti-fog and anti-frost. Polycarbonate as durable as aluminum.

Permanence

The world's first permanent anti-fog and anti-frost treatment. It is covalently bonded to the substrate, so it does not wash off or wear away, unlike conventional anti-fogs that leave a soap-like film behind.

0°

Water contact angle

Aegis-Clear is superhydrophilic. Water is drawn into a continuous, fully wetting sheet instead of beading into droplets, so there is nothing to scatter light and fog never forms.

Mechanism

Water held against the grafted surface is energetically more stable as a liquid than as ice. It stays liquid and bound, so frost has no site to nucleate.

Origin

Biomimetic by design. Fish that live in perpetually freezing water do not freeze; our chemistry emulates how nature manages water at a surface.

Anti-Frost Coatings Reduce Winter Emissions from Heat Pumps Without Compromising Comfort

Nawawi, Tuteja and Vaishnav, University of Michigan. Simulating about 7,900 homes across 25 cold-climate U.S. cities, a coating that fully prevents frost cuts median winter emissions by about 40%.
